The popular Dining in the Dark experience has not only changed the way we consume our food, but also flipped the script on what a typical dinner out can be. It’s finally coming to San Antonio to challenge your taste buds with a scrumptious meal and enigmatic blindfold.
Dining in the Dark is an exclusive event with limited places available and this season, it takes place at Botika at Pearl. Starting from January 19, don’t miss out on the chance to try Chef Geronimo Lopez’ incredible blend of flavors as you indulge in a tantalizing three-course secret menu.
What to expect at Dining in the Dark?
When you no longer rely on your sense of sight, it’s believed that your senses of taste and smell are heightened. There are no visual distractions so you can better distinguish textures and flavors. You’ll see for yourself (better yet—experience), every flavor and aroma will get amplified. What is sweet suddenly will taste even more honeyed, what is salty will feel punchier and the creamy and velvety layers will harmonize with robust flavors.
Once you’ve been led to your table, you’ll put on a blindfold and indulge in one of three delicious menus: red, blue or green. Depending on your preference, the red menu highlights meat, the blue one the flavors of the sea, and the green menu heroes veggies. Now, for the actual eating part, you can use whatever you feel is appropriate at the moment, whether it’s the restaurant’s cutlery or you fingers. There will indubitably be times where you miss your mouth or the food slips from your fingers, but that’s all part of the fun!
