Flamenco is an art form that originated in Andalusia, Spain. It evokes powerful emotions with every clap of the hands, guitar strum, and technical movement. “We Call It Flamenco” comes to San Antonio to show flamenco’s ability to transcend reason and connect with an audience, bringing out the usual jaleo (praise).
The spellbinding sound of the guitar will transport spectators to the world of an authentic Spanish tradition, offering a captivating and passionate experience. And given the success of previous editions, we’d advise you not to wait too long to get your tickets for this dance show taking place over the coming months.
What is “We Call It Flamenco”?
Countless roses, the vibrant energy of the Spanish flamenco guitar, the poignant songs of the cantaor(singer), the typical twirling flamenco dresses, and the spirited dancing of a talented bailaor (dancer) come together to create a symphony of duende (an almost magical creative impulse). Coupled with the beautiful roses and special effects, you’ll feel like you’re in Spain!
Flamenco, it’s palos and the show
Music and song play an equally important role in this Andalusian form of artistic expression, and there are different traditional musical styles known as palos, each expressing its own emotion.
The unique performance will introduce you to the most celebrated palos during the 4-act show during which the twirling mantones (traditional dresses) and the castanets (clackers) will take you through a whole range of emotions. From the beloved and traditional fandango to the daring bulería, “We Call It Flamenco” welcomes you to Andalusia!
